We went on a trailride with Rob Henriken (guide and
taxidermist extraordinary) in 1991 into the Bob
Marshall Wilderness, the largest such area in the
country, three million acres of undisturbed
wilderness. We still looked like tourists (I was
wearing topsiders!)
I got to rein a horse for the
first time, and I've never been the same since.
Later that summer we met George, who taught me how
to ride on Rebel for the
next 2 years.
Rob also taught us about those
horse-eating rocks in Montana. There's one just
to the right of us (arrow).
