Klaus' Hobbies

I have several hobbies, and the main problem of my life is that I don't have enough time for them.

I love horses and Montana, particularly Bandit, my horse. And, paradoxically, I also love New York City.

And as you've probably figured out, I love computers and technology and gadgets in general.

I also take pictures, even more so since I started the Web site. Mostly they're just snapshots of people – I don't have Beate's artistic eye.

As for the performing arts, I love the theater, always have since I was fourteen. We go to the theater about once a week (see my theater page). We also used to go to the movies a lot, but since we have Li'l House and I work on my Web Site during the weekends, we haven't gone as often. Beate loves the opera; I tried it for two years, but the part I always liked best was the falling curtain, so I finally decided opera wasn't for me.

I read; my favorite are intelligent spy stories (John LeCaree, etc.), unfortunately, there aren't many really good ones. If you know of any, please e-mail me. When I lived in Germany my friend Gerhard and I started to collect science fiction magazines. I still read it occasionally, but real good ones are hard to find.

As far as music is concerned, when I came to the States as an exchange student in 1961 folk music was the rage, and I loved it. My favorites are still Pete Seeger, the Weavers, and especially Woody Guthrie. I branched out into country, and I like old-time jazz from the 20's (Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, etc.)

I play squash, not very well, in fact, embarrassingly badly, when you consider that I've been at it for over 15 years, but I enjoy it.
