One of
the haunting fears of the people in Woodstock is
that the town will be discovered by the Hamptons
crowd, and that this sleepy, non-conformist
artist and aged-hippie community will be turned
into a frantic, gourmet and fashion outpost. A
wave of panic swept through the community
following a tongue-in-cheek New York Times
article, which reported sightings of super-models
on Tinker Street.
The article prompted an ad (below) in the Woodstock
Times, easily the best and most literate
small-town newspaper in America.
